Prominent ear aesthetics (otoplasty), Otoplasty is a surgical aesthetic procedure applied when the angle of the ears with the head is more than normal and/or the ear folds are not prominent enough. Otoplasty can be performed from the age of 6-7, when ear development is largely completed, and can also be performed safely in adulthood.
In otoplasty surgery, different surgical techniques are combined according to the anatomical structure and needs of the patient. With methods such as cartilage sutures, cartilage filing and/or cartilage removal, the auricle is reshaped and a more harmonious, balanced and aesthetic appearance is obtained. Surgical scars are usually hidden behind the ear.
Otoplasty surgery can be performed under local or general anaesthesia. The average duration of the operation is between 45-90 minutes. Same day discharge is possible in most patients. Patients can usually return to their daily lives within 2-3 days. It is recommended to use an ear bandage for about 2-4 weeks in the postoperative period. The final shape of the ear is formed within 6-12 months.
