Benign lesions of the skin, These are non-cancerous skin formations that should be evaluated mostly for aesthetic or functional reasons. These lesions usually grow slowly, do not spread to surrounding tissues and do not pose a life risk. However, since they may be confused with malignant skin lesions in some cases, dermatological or surgical evaluation is important.
Nevuses (moles), acrochordons (flesh moles) and cysts are among the most common benign lesions of the skin. Surgical removal of nevi and cysts with risky features is recommended. In addition, non-risk nevi and acrochordons can also be removed for aesthetic or functional reasons.
If only the part of the nevus and acrochordon that is raised above the skin is removed, there is a high risk of recurrence of the lesion. Similarly, only draining/draining cysts is not an adequate treatment method; after such procedures, the cyst may recur and local infection may develop. Therefore, it is necessary to surgically remove nevi and acrochords together with their base and cysts together with their capsule (membrane).
The treatment of benign lesions of the skin is usually performed under local anaesthesia. The procedure is usually completed within minutes and patients can return to their daily lives in a short time.
